Custom Travel Illustrations

My illustrations began right here, with a desire to capture my own personal travel experiences. If I could illustrate my awe at seeing the New York City skyline for the first time or capture the magic of a week driving on the Pacific Coast Highway… Well, I’d certainly try.

I quickly realized this was something most traveler would appreciate. A trip comes and goes all too quickly, but the memories last forever. These illustrations help keep those memories intact.

Illustrated Gettysburg map featuring Gettysburg National Military Park landmarks, historic sites, restaurants, inns, battlefields, and local roads.

One client of mine visits Gettysburg with her husband every year. With each visit, they stay at the same bed and breakfast, walk the same cobbled streets, enjoy a slice of pizza from the same brick oven. It’s their home away from home. A place where they slow down and get to know each other more with each passing year while being in the comfort of a familiar place.

Sometimes it’s exciting to see a world undiscovered. Other times, we just want to visit that home away from home.

This illustration commemorates a trip my husband and I took to California’s Central Coast, where the local agriculture heavily guided our travel itinerary. We visited local farms, wineries, and orchards along the California State Route 1. We tasted peppery olive oil made from the fruits of imported Italian olive trees and sipped on wine sweetened from the sun-soaked slopes of Paso Robles. We drove up and down the hills of Ojai Valley, collecting heavy bags of freshly-picked oranges and thanking our lucky stars for the sacred opportunity to sample directly from the earth.

Fruit Illustrations

My grandmother collected fruit tchotchkes as far back as I can remember.

She preferred serving her iced tea out of a porcelain pitcher of grapes. A round peach vase on her kitchen table often held fresh cut flowers from her garden at summertime. And her kitchen wall coverings reminded all of us grandchildren of Willy Wonka’s fruity, lick-able wallpaper. (Snozzberry, anyone?)

I adopted my grandmother’s love for fruit at an early age, and it’s a fondness that only continues to grow. This collection of fruit illustrations and poems is dedicated to her.

Greeting Card Illustrations

My greeting card collection began as an ode to the surrounding dog-loving communities. You know the neighborhoods, the ones that wake with the sunrise to walk their very best furry friends.

I find much comfort in such energies. There’s something extremely cathartic about this reliable walking schedule between man and beast. Animals have a transformative impression on our lives—they bring us together when division threatens our sense of community.

Long live the commonwealth of dog walkers!

Custom Home Illustrations

My father built homes. The two-story wood frame of a house contains some of my earliest memories. (There’s nothing like the smell of warmed up lumber on a late summer afternoon. And the way an early evening sun lights up post-and-beam as if it’s gold on fire…sigh.)

So, naturally, one of my favorite things to illustrate are houses. Each beautiful facade contains much more than simple curb appeal. Each portrait represents the lives lived inside—the dreams and the love they contain and the rich tapestry of memories carried within and beyond.
